My new favourite nail polish: ELF’s Metal Madness!

I was given this beautiful metallic polish as part of a free shipping offer back in December when I bought products worth more than £10 in total.

This is what I bought:

My December ELF Haul

There are several things in this haul that I like (actually almost everything!) and hopefully I will be reviewing them over the next few days.

But this post is about the metallic polish Metal Madness which I love!

The sparkles are fine and multicolored not all silvery like it’s shown on the first picture.

This is shown better on these next pictures (sorry for the blur…)

Love how the lights get reflected on the nails.

In terms of texture, this is much better than other ELF polishes and two coats are enough to give good coverage. Not a pain to remove either. And it lasted good solid 4 days before it started chipping (always with base and top coats, of course). And it’s only £1.50, well, actually for me it was free, even better!

So all in all this is definitely a winner for me.

So do you girls have this?

Which is your favourite nail polish at the moment?

Update: This is now on sale at only £1 at ELF’s website!

Best Product of 2010:Lip Balm

I’ve been using these almost every single day since I bought them !

ELF and Body Shop Lip balm/gloss

This is actually an old picture. There’s not so much left of them now.

I like the texture and their scent is great. The price (£1.50 for the ELf, and £1 for the BS one) is unbeatable!

Unfortunately ELF is discontinuing these (why? oh why?) but I have a couple of them as back up. My favourite by far is the pink one.

These have been reviewed before so I’ll stop now.

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

Golden Goddess combo

Hope you’re enjoying your holidays if you are lucky enough to have some time off these days.

Inspired by Nicolettas’s teal polish I tried this nail polish combo for Christmas Eve dinner+Christmas days lunch:

Glittered nails
OPI Boris & Natasha + ELF Golden Goddess

I did that with one coat of OPI’s Boris & Natasha and one coat of the superglittery Golden Goddess from OPI.

One of my sisters didn’t exactly liked it and the other one said that I looked like a teenager…

I liked it!

What do you think?

Are you wearing any glitter on your nails these days?

HALLOWEEN ELF LOOKS

This is what I got in my email inbox today:

ELF SCARY savings promotion

For those of you who are in the US this might be useful.

I’ve complained here about the lack of promotions at this side of the pond compared to the Americas…but that’s not what I want to talk about today…

ELF proposes  four different looks  for this Halloween (using their products obviously  but you can easily swap them for other brands):

FAIRY

NYMPH

ANGEL

RED LIPS

Which one is your favourite?

I specially like the Red Lips one, tres French Chic.

They don’t look very striking for Halloween looks but they are pretty  nevertheless. If you like them you can go to their website and see tutorials on how to recreate these looks.

I don’t think I’ll dress any different for Halloween (just visiting some old friends in Spain that weekend).

How about you? Are you going to wear a costume? Get some crazy make up?

New ELF Nail Polish: Punk Purple

Seriously…not sure why this polish is named purple at all but anyway…

ELF Punk Purple without Flash

Wasn’t a fan of the color at first, but slowly but surely it caught on me. It’s a pretty dark fuchsia (not a purple unless I’m loosing my eyesight here).

ELF Punk Purple with Flash

In terms of consistency I was pretty surprised, normally ELF nail polishes are quite disappointing but with this one almost one coat was enough. I know! Miracles do happen after all…

And it lasted 4-5 days before it started chipping so not bad at all for £1.50 polish. Of course this was with both base and top coat.

After all this pink I think I’m in the mood for blue nails now…

ELF: FREE SHIPPING Code

So it seems I need to check the ELF  Facebook page for offer codes (uhmm…not a huge fan of Facebook but…) .

Don’t really understand why they cannot send an email to previous customers (like ELF US does) but not going to complain too loud.

Here’s what I found in the ELF Facebook page this morning:

Free shipping on www.eyeslipsface.co.uk. UK Customers please use the code MOREFORYOUUK, EU Customers use MOREFORYOUEU at checkout.

The free shipping discount is valid with purchases over £10 (before shipping is added). This offer ends at 10am (UK) 6 October 2010.

So hurry! And apologies for not posing this before!

I already ordered some stuff…didn’t I tell myself that I wasn’t going to buy more make up this fall? Tshh…

1, 2, 3…nude lip!

This is a personal challenge. I’m trying to write this post in 15 min (pictures uploaded already) to see if I can go to sleep at a decent hour at least tonight…

Better get going then. I bought this ELF Plump and Prime product a while ago and has been sitting on my make up tray without getting too much attention really.

Last weekend I was bored and I decided to try things that I’ve had for a while but having been used much like said Plump& Prime from ELF. Forgot the actual name, sorry…ok, I just checked it and is the Lip Primer and Plumper from the studio collection.

This is what they say about it in the ELF website:

“Achieve longer lasting lip color and sexy plumped lips. The Primer creates a base for lip color for no budge, no smudge pigment that lasts all day. The cinnamon scented Plumper enhances your lips with a subtle plumping tingle effect for fuller, larger looking lips”

Here’s how it looks:

ELF Lip Primer&Plumper and Hypershine Lip Gloss in Cloud Nine

The Plumper side does taste like cinnamon but it stings quite a bit. Use sparingly. The fuller effect is mild. The primer is a bit chalky, I don’t like it by itself and don’t think is a very good primer in the sense that the lipstick you apply on top does definitely budge.

ELF Lip Primer + Lipgloss

The Hypershine lipgloss I love. It tastes great (sweet) and leaves your lips supersmooth and actually lasts quite a bit. Really impressed. I also like the brush applicator which  has supersoft bristles.

I ended up trying this:

1.One coat of Plumper

2.One coat of Primer on top. Blend a bit.

3. Finish with the clear lipgloss.

If  I feel it looks too plain (I’m not that much into nudes, really) I add a coat of light pink lip balm ( lip balm tin in Candy Fix also from ELF).

This is how it looks like:

Not a very good picture, I know...

Let me know if you have tried any of this and how do you like them.

Uff made it just on time!

ELF offers: I don’t get it!

I warn you, this is a bit of a rant…

I just checked my email before calling it a day and there it is: another email from ELF (USA) with another discount code, this time for their mineral line, 50% off. Not bad at all.

First, you might be thinking, why are you getting discount codes for ELF USA? Well, I accidentally subscribed to updates from elf.com website instead of elf.co.uk. Since then, I’ve been BOMBARDED with ELF discount codes from their website.

My problem is: I don’t live there so I cannot use them.

What really bothers me is: why the UK/EU site cannot do the same? You’d think that after everything I have bought over the past year they could through in a little discount code here and there…nah…We just get very few emails with like 5£ off if you buy 25£ or something like that, and even these are quite rare.

It annoys me! And on top of that we’re paying more for the same stuff (the £1.50 line is just a dollar over there, which is almost like paying double with the exchange rate). True, they are not expensive anyway…

Well, here’s the coupon just in case anyone is in the US or can somehow benefit from it: MINHALF 50% Off mineral range on orders over 20$ before the 27th Sept.

Enjoy!

ELF Haul

ELF Haul

Hello fellow make up addicts,

I got tis haul from ELF last week so I thought it was about time that I show you what I got.

ELF makeup, brushes and nail polishes

As you can see in the picture I got:

nail polishes in Lilac, Punk Purple and Mod Mauve.

Very disappointed with the colors except Lilac, the don’t look AT ALL like on the website, seriously…maybe that’s too much to ask for a £1.5o polish but …Anyway, I reviewed them in a previous post last week so I ‘m not going to talk about them  today.

2 new brushes:

ELF brushes

ELF eyeliner brush (left) and blushing, bronzing and blending brush (right)

I was very impressed with the eyeliner brush. Really soft and easy to work with, in two or three strokes it covers my whole eye. It’s much bigger than the eyeliner brush from the Studio series (which I also own but this one I like better when I’m on a rush or don’t care that much about  precise lines because I’m not applying a dark color).

I don’t really like the bronzing blush for bronzing, it’s way too small. Not for blushing either. It’s very soft and I like the angle so I’m using it to apply contour and highlight and also to apply bronzer all over  my lid (which most days this summer is pretty much the only thing that goes in my lids apart from eyeliner and mascara.

•2 eyesshadow creams:

ELF eye shadow cream in Butter Pecan (top) and Berry Mix (bottom)

I’ve seen a lot of people seem to have Butter Pecan and I know why now, the colors are pretty, good brown neutrals. I still have to use them as base for powder eyeshadow, which how I’ve seen most people use this one. I tried the darker color today as an eyeliner but it disappear after just a few hours. I’ll keep you updated.

The other shadow is Berry Mix which I also really like the colors on my skin but haven’t used it yet (not wearing that much purple these days). But purples shadows/eyeliner usually suit my brown eyes well.

The last things I bought were:

Brightening eye liner in Midnight

Waterproof eyeliner pen in Midnight

Have only used the regular  eyeliner. It was easy to apply and stayed on for a decent amount of time so I guess the waterproof one will be even better. THe color is not very dark blue but dark enough (I prefer darker than paler tones). Definitely a jewel tone, matte, not sparkly though. I think a sparkly one would be nice. (Sorry forgot to swatch them and now it’s too late to take a picture. Will update tomorrow)

I really like a hint of blue on my eyes. At least this year I’ve been  experimenting  with new colors on my eyes (green, gold, purple and blue, not all at the same time!) and match some of the clothes I wear with the eyeliner color.

I just like a bit of color in my life.

So overall quite happy with my ELF haul.

Update:

Forgot to add that everything here was on their” regular” line so each product was only £1.50, not bad.
