Delicious Lip Gloss

Just I quick post to show you the most delicious lip gloss I bought recently (yeah! it actually tastes quite sweet!).

It’s from Rimmel London and it’s called, well Delicious!

Delicious Rimmel Gloss

Royal Gloss

It leaves a very subtle raspberry tint to your lips leaving them quite glossy and soft. Staying power is almost null but I really like the taste and how it leaves my lips. Word of caution: for those winter days when it’s supercold you would need a good lip balm as a base or better yet, just leave it for those other days when it’s not that cold!

This is an attempt to show how it looked on my lips although it almost unnoticeable…

Delicious gloss on my lips

This was under £5 so I’m thinking of getting more flavours (although don’t really know if they come in other flavours or just other colors…)

Do you also like glosses wich taste sweet?

MAC eBay Haul

Hey! I’m back!

Sorry it’s been two weeks since my last post…

Kind of got stuck in my Best of series and plenty of things going on at work interrupted my blogging  that I had started after coming back from the holidays…

Anyway…I’ve been bad (or good for the UK retailers) and bought plenty of things in the sales. I will be posting plenty on that this week hopefully.

But today I wanted to share with you some of the MAC make up I’ve been buying on eBay from different sellers.

MAC via eBay

As you can see everything came in it’s original package (the one that’s not shown it’s because I threw it away before taking the pictures)

All the items came from 100% rated sellers and BNIB (brand new in box).

I have to admit I’ve started to buy on eBay only late last year. It’s actually kind of fun if you don’t take it too seriously when you don’t win (that’s a funny term ’cause you’re actually paying for it!).

I actually check first what’s the full price to make sure that I’m not being ripped off!

Regarding MAC makeup I think mostly the things you can find are some limited editions and past collections essentially although there are also regular items but the sold out and hard-to- find ones normally tend to go quite expensive so I stay away from those.

So without further ado let me show you in more detail what I got and my first impressions.

MAC Mineralize eye shadows: Devil-May-Care and Earthly Riches

Without flash (and crappy winter daylight in London)

With flash (closer to what they actually look like)

MAC Mineralize eye shadow in Earthly Riches

and in Devil-May-Care

I have to admit this are the first Mac products I own (I know, I know, I’ve waited all this time!) but I was definitely impressed by the texture and the colours and pigmentation which I found all superb (as everyone else).

They are £15.5 on the MAC website (at least the colors they sell now, these may have been cheaper at the time). I payed 8.75£ for one and 10£ for the other one. Not exactly bargains but a good price anyway I think.

This is what they say about this type of shadows in the MAC website:

“Two Mineralize Eye Shadows in one large compact. One shade features a mélange of three shades, the other provides a complementary or contrasting solid shade. Both provide medium buildable and lightweight application with a pearlized frost finish.”

I used Devil-May-Care a lot during the Christmas holidays over other shadows. It gave a festive sparkly finish. Igot Earthly Riches more recently but I really love the color (aubergines and metallic browns are my favourites for winter) so I’m very happy with it!

Moving on to the rest.

MAC Sheertone Blush in Ambering Rose

Ambering Rose with flash

and without flash (true to actual color)

The color seems very dark in the pan which actually scared me a bit when I got it but since this is a sheertone it’s, well, very sheer (dah!) and buildable.

Here’s a swatch on my hand (I haven’t tried it yet on my cheeks).

MAC Sheertone Blush in Amering Rose

It looks very orange but actually these were more than a couple of strokes so I think if I go with a light hand it will be alright…Will wait maybe to be a bit more tanned.

This was 10£ including shipping (compared to 17.5£ in the website).

Finally

MAC Lipglass in Lust

Lipglass in Lust

Lipglass in Lust

Lust blended

The lipglass is part of the “Mickey Contractor” limited edition. You can still find it on the website for 12.5£ and I got it for 8.6£.

This is a very nude color for me but I like the texture (very rich) so I will wear it anyway. I got it because I thought the color was more like a “dirty rose” which is how it looked in the pictures shown on eBay (without flash) and in the website to be honest.

MAC on eBay

So all in all I’m quite happy with what I got. I have to confess is a bit risky (I wouldn’t have gone for the blush and the lipgloss if I had seen the actual colors) but I guess as equally risky as buying from the website withought checking the products first in the store.

So for people like me that don’t mind having the latest collections and are always in the lookout for good quality products at a lower price I think this is an interesting option.

Do you buy makeup from eBay at all? And MAC in particular?

Please leave a comment!

Best Product of 2010:Lip Balm

I’ve been using these almost every single day since I bought them !

ELF and Body Shop Lip balm/gloss

This is actually an old picture. There’s not so much left of them now.

I like the texture and their scent is great. The price (£1.50 for the ELf, and £1 for the BS one) is unbeatable!

Unfortunately ELF is discontinuing these (why? oh why?) but I have a couple of them as back up. My favourite by far is the pink one.

These have been reviewed before so I’ll stop now.

Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!

Best Products of 2010: Mineral powder

Physician’s Formula Mineral Loose Powder

I bought this in Canada last winter.

LOVE IT! I use it as a foundation/base almost everyday and gives my skin a very nice matte but not cakey finish.

Physician's Formula Mineral Loose Powder

It comes with a brush...

…that I don’t use really.

I think it was about 12$ (Canadian) and it the container is quite big so I think it was a good price for the value. The color is yellow base which I like and think suits my skin tone best than a pinky base.

This has made me fell in love with mineral products. It doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin, I like the color, the finish, well, I think overall it’s a great product. It may not have  a very long-lasting power but for the price I won’t complain…

I’m a bad blogger and I don’t recall reviewing this before (bad, bad, bad) but it definitely deserves a Best of 2010 mention!

Voila!

Have you also jumped on the mineral powder wagon?

Best products of 2010: Mascara

I know, I know, this comes a bit too late. Who wants to hear about 2010 when we’re already enjoying the new year?

I decided to go ahead with it anyway and hopefully it will hopefully give some ideas to other people willing to try new things.

So let’s start.

L’Oreal Voluminous Naturale in Brown Black

L'Oreal Voluninous Mascara Naturale

This may surprise some of you but I like my eye lashes to look full but natural for an everyday look. So I always prefer brown black to dark black and tend to use mascaras that add volume over the ones that lenghten. This is the perfect deal for me. I bought it in Canada last year and haven’t seen it in the UK or Spain yet.

After a year it has dried out and bought a replacement in the US but the regular kind which I’ve seen it’s a favourite f many people. Will keep you posted…

Winter Make up Routine

Sorry for the lack of posts this past week. It has been kind of crazy at work trying to meet a self-imposed deadline (which I’m not sure I’ll be able to meet…) but anyway, moving on to less boring stuff…

I decided about a week ago that with this crazy cold weather we are having here in London my skin looked a bit dry with the mineral powder that I normally use as make up base (from Physician’s Formula, really like it otherwise).

Since I don’t really like foundation (terrible memories from my teens when I was breaking out like crazy although probably formulas have advanced in the few decades that have gone by…) and I don’t like anything that feels “heavy” on my skin I decide to try something that is between a tinted moisturizer and a foundation from Neutrogena:

Healthy Skin from Neutrogena

Healthy Skin glow sheers, natural radiant look, SPF 30, light feel, oil free in n40 (medium to tan).

I bought this in the US, where they really have a whole range of Neutrogena products. I know the  from this brand  are recommended all the time by dermatologist and I also like most of their make up range.

I really like the way it looks on my skin, very natural while giving some color. And love the fact that it doesn’t turn super shiny over the hours. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t stay put matte at all but it does not over shine.

I top this with a Revlon powder that is also very light but gives a very nice finish.

Revlon PhotoReady

This color is right at tis time of the year but I think whenever I start using fake tan again (yeah , I ended up embracing the pale …) will probably have to go one shade darker. It looks a tiny little bit shimmery on the pan but not really that much when applied to skin.

I finish up the whole thing by applying some bronzer from NYC (I don’t fake tan anymore but that doesn’t mean I want to look like snow white!).

My second great recent discovery has been applying the undereye concealer ( from ELF studio range) once I’ve applied the foundation/tinted moisturizer. I was getting fed up of my concealer getting all patchy and dry under my eyes at the end of the day which just accentuated my lines there even more,  obviously not the effect I was looking for to start with…

Now it stays put very nicely, not patchy AT ALL!

So the order of application now is: foundation then powder then concealer then eye primer. To be honest I apply a No7 green primer before the foundation but this  I don’t extend under the eyes.

I’ve also started mixing a bit of the highlighter part of the concealer with the actual concealer to give a lighter touch and I like the result as well.

New Winter Make up Routine

So no more patchy eyes/skin! Yey!!

Have you changed your make up lately because of the cold weather?

ELF Free Shipping Hauls

So after all the complaining about not being any significant offers from ELF UK for regular customers (like me!) and finding out that some offers are indeed posted on their Facebook page I went ahead and used a couple of FREE SHIPPING codes that went out early this month.

This is what I bought:

ELF November Haul

Cream eyeliner in Purple and coffee

They come with a small brush (it appears huge in the picture on their website but is actually quite small)

It’s true that it doesn’t budge, it stays put all day long. However it is quite dry do you have to apply it quite fast.  It is definitely hard for me to apply with the brush provided so I’ve tried other (longer brushes that I owe). For me it is easier to apply it with a bent liner brush.

I find the purple is more pigmented than the coffee. Didn’t buy black because it’s permanently sold out and anyway, I tend to use purple or brown much more often, anyway.

Hypershine Lip Gloss in Flirt and Berry Cherry

ELF Lip glosses

I also owe this in “Cloud Nine” which is basically a clear gloss with a wonderful coconut smell.

These colors are more pigmented but still very sheer, Flirt goes towards the pink and Berry Cherry is a bit mauveish. Both are indeed very glossy, easy to apply and leave your lips feeling veeeeery smooth. However the taste of these is kind of weird. Definitely don’t like it as much than Cloud Nine but they are great for the price (£1.50).

I did some swatches but they don’t really come out well and true to life in the picture…

Super Glossy LIp Shine Spf 15

I bought it in Mauve Luxe. Definitely the more pigmented of the glosses. It has a nicer smell/taste and also leaves your lips super shiny and smooth.

Healthy Glow Bronzing Powder

I bought it in “Luminance” which is basically just a highlighter.

Very seer with a nice shimmer and not sparkly at all.

Healthy Glow Powder

On my finger

It is actually more transparent and not as yellowish as i shows in the pictures.

Here are some swatches on my hand:

After smudging it

Without smudging it

As you can see no risk of looking like a disco ball with this powder (in fact I’m not sure if it shows that much at all…) but I have been actually using it almost everyday since I got it and al least it looks good when I apply it. Not sure it lasts that long though…

Under eye concealer and highlighter

Bought it in medium. This is quite moisturizing as well and I like the fact that it doesn’t look as cakey as the mineral concealer from Maybelline that I’ve been using these past months.

In the ELF website they syate that “Blends in easily and evenly to provide a smooth and natural finish.”. That is exactly what it does.

Haven’t really tried that much the highlighter so cannot comment that much on it. I would happily buy only the concealer without the highlighter…I’m not sure it adds that much to it, but that is just my opinion.

I also got a bag for my brushes to keep them sorted and well kept when travelling.

Shown with My Sonia Kashuk Powder Brush

It is very flat and will prevent my longer brushes to get stuck in the zips of my other make up bags. And also since it packs flat it won’t take that much space in my always crammed suitcase…

I made an order yesterday for some new Crown brushes. I hope they also fit nicely in this bag!

Have you guys bought anything form ELF laltely?

(More ELF reviews to come soon)
